Director

Director2Charles Scott was born and raised in idyllic Marin County California. Under the maternal guidance of his Mother, he learned the benefits of discipline, vision, loyalty and goals. She taught him to set standards exceedingly high and to never accept anything but excellence. At this tender age, he also learned the importance of moral fortitude, complete integrity and commitment; adhering to difficult decisions even in the face of adversity.

A highly coveted student athlete, Charles was courted by the top colleges in the country. He was recruited for over fifty NCAA Division One scholarship programs. After careful consideration, he committed to the nations’ top ranked baseball program, Arizona State University. He became close friends with teammate and roommate Barry Bonds. Together, their outstanding performances led to back-to-back appearances in the College World Series. An unprecedented fourteen players were drafted from his Arizona State team, including seven who eventually were named to major league rosters.

Earning the admiration of top scouts, in 1985 Charles was drafted in the sixth round by the Cleveland Indians (considered by many historians to be one of the strongest drafts of all time) and thus started an extensive and illustrious nine year playing career for three major league organizations: the Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners.

Charles ScottA versatile talent, Charles was one of the first players drafted as both a position player and a pitcher. His rookie year was challenging, when he both pitched and DH. He approached the Indians and requested to pitch exclusively. This move paid immediate dividends over the next two years. He earned All Star honors in Long A in the Midwest league and High A in the Carolina League, where he also led the league in ERA. In 1988 he was promoted to AA and added to the Cleveland Indians Major League Roster. Stellar performance warranted consecutive invites to Major League spring camps where he competed with and against some of the major leagues finest talent: Mark McGwire, Randy Johnson, Gary Sheffield, Robin Yount, Paul Molitor and Ken Griffey, Jr.

Unfortunately, a severe rotator cuff injury cut short his aspiring playing career. Undeterred by this development, Charles returned to his hometown and resumed his studies.

Following university, Charles was again recruited by the Major Leagues, this time as a Supervising Scout for the Tampa Rays Devils Rays. He helped assemble a foundation of talent that later went on to become the reigning American League Champions. This initiated a strong nine-year scouting career. General Managers noticed Charles exhibited the rare keen ability to evaluate talent as he skillfully managed an annual signing budget in excess of five million dollars. In addition, Charles needed to earn the respect and trust of top draftees and their families.

His consistent and unparallel track record produced multiple Topps Scout of the month awards. Once again a highly sought commodity, Charles accepted promotion and appointment as Regional Cross Checker for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Under his tutelage, the Diamondbacks fielded a team that ultimately won the 2001 World Series and continues to be a perennial National League post-season powerhouse.

Despite enticing offers to work as the Scouting Director of the Pittsburg Pirates, Charles chose to refocus on family and the local community. In 2002, a single small advertisement in the local paper launched Future Prospects Baseball. Charles dedicated his wealth of experience and talent to a new program for today’s youth. Programs encompassed a unique comprehensive approach facilitating successful growth and development of young boys and girls up to and through professional levels. The program expanded rapidly from a few local lessons to a renowned program whose camps and clinics routinely sell out. The Bay Area’s top players travel great distances for private lessons. His talent evaluation and development also sourced the finest, impeccably credentialed, professional coaching staff.

“All my years of experience are now dedicated to the service of the children and parents who attend my camps and private sessions.  You can rest assured that your child will receive the personal and hands-on attention of an instructor who takes an interest in the development of each and every child. So give us a try and watch your child’s mind, body and spirit grow.”
