Team Practice

Future Prospects Baseball conducts team practices for local youth baseball teams in Marin County and the Bay Area. One of the benefits of bringing in a professional instructor is that you can count on a planned practice session where the entire team is fully engaged.

Our team practices are designed to help parents create successful, dedicated and respectful children by reinforcing positive values in our unique baseball setting. Students learn not only how to play the games, but also self confidence by setting and reaching goals. They develop self esteem through continued growth, improvement on and off the field, and respect for others and themselves.

The Future Prospects Instructional Baseball training approach is based on the five physical tools that major league baseball scouts look for when evaluating players:

  1. Running — speed and base running abilities
  2. Fielding — softness of hands, exchange from glove to throwing hand
  3. Throwing — arm strength and accuracy
  4. Hitting for average — situational hitting
  5. Power hitting — ability to drive the ball

The sixth (and maybe the most important) area a scout evaluates is referred to in the industry as “makeup”. This in essence is the character of the player, the overall player’s attitude, dedication, level of respect and self confidence. Many times this sixth tool determines if the player makes the team, earns the scholarship, or is offered the professional contract. This sixth element is the core of Future Prospects Instructional Baseball and how we differentiate ourselves from other programs.
